How the invitations came about...

Hello all!

7 weeks to the big day. WOW! I'm getting really anxious!

Here is a little story about how our invitations came about.

A few years back, David was on holiday alone in Paris and had a silhouette of his head cut out of cardboard by an artist in Montmarte. Long forgotten, we happened to come across it between some books on our bookshelf. Good memories were brought up and the idea of having silhouettes of each of us, to use in our wedding somewhere, came up. So on our past Christmas holiday in Paris, we made our way in the -3 degree rainy, snowy weather to the top of the hill in Montmarte to find the artist who cut David's silhouette 2 years before. We did not find the same old man however, but there were many others. So after a 20 hour plane trip, 8 hour train ride and a steep climb up the hill with the infamous Sacré-Cœur Basilica looming over us, it took the artist all of 2 minutes to cut our profiles (see pic) - but it was all worth it!

Parisian romance was all around. We happened upon a little shop (it was really one of hundreds of tourist shop scattered all over Paris) in Paris where we saw these black and white vintage postcards, all depicting various romance scenes in Paris. The mood took us and we change our entire idea of what the wedding theme was going to be and we bought a range of these postcards. Done deal! With a bit of creativity they were made into the invitations that you've all received.
